A contemporary upgrade designed to enhance urban family living—without losing Newtown’s authentic character.
This Newtown house extension was delivered under a Development Application (DA), ensuring the design aligned with the area’s established character and planning controls. The aim was to improve day-to-day functionality for the family and make the most of a compact inner-city site.
A modern rear extension provides open-plan living, enhanced indoor–outdoor connection, and upgraded interior finishes. While the rear addition is contemporary, the original street-facing façade has been carefully maintained to remain consistent with the neighbourhood’s distinctive streetscape.
This project achieves a balanced result: a practical and modern home tailored to urban living, while preserving the charm and authenticity that define Newtown.
